Annie is simply put one of the best creatives I’ve worked with.
An immense knowledge of the medium, huge experience knowing what works and what doesn’t connect, clear ideas but always super adaptable. As a Narrative Director, she has the superpower of composing compelling stories and characters in innovative structures while never losing sight of the limits of narrative tools. She also is a master at not only writing dialogue but also directing performances. In addition, she is also a fantastic manager, giving her team the tools, methods and confidence to constantly do their best work. I would work with Annie again tomorrow.

I worked with Annie Reid extensively on The Division and The Division: Underground expansion. She is a joy to work with, she thinks deeply about the craft of narrative design, has a ton of experience and the wisdom to apply it to novel and new problems. On top of this, Annie is an expert writer and editor. She delivers sharp, rich stories abundant with wit, warmth and character and contributes selflessly to the writers room, making everyone’s work better for her input.I hope I’ll get to work with her again someday.
I’ve worked with Anne twice now, on The Division and at Romero Games where I brought her on board as a contractor, and I’d gladly go back for a third round. She is a consummate professional, always asking sharp questions and doing her research before writing word one. A great collaborator, she offers insightful feedback and does a great job of incorporating discussions into her own rewrites. I remain immensely proud of the work we were able to do together on The Division, and hope we get the chance to work together again.
Annie is an incredibly gifted storyteller, with a unique perspective on how to weave exceptional narrative into big budget games. I have had the pleasure of working with Annie in various capacities over the years and I have always admired her passion, notonly in pushing the quality of the narrative in our games, but also in her commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive team, where unique ideas can grow and be nurtured. Furthermore, Annie is an exceptional writer, both in character and world creation, and dialogue and prose. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to work under Annie over the last few years and learn and grow from her tutelage. She is an inspiration!
I count myself very fortunate to have worked closely with Annie on The Division. She is an exceptional writer seemingly able to conquer any type of literary challenge and effortlessly adapt to ever changing demands of game narrative. She is also brilliant at working with acting talent and squeezing the absolute best from them. I learnt much from observing this direction in recording sessions and I dearly hope to work with this warm, witty and talented writer again.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Annie at two different studios, and on both occasions I was bowled away by her considerable talents as a storyteller and vision-setter. On ‘Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’, she skilfully managed the expectations of the IP holders while crafting a story with resonant and timely parallels to our own world. At Romero Games, she hit the ground running and was instrumental in fleshing out important elements of the story, characters, and world. She writes superb dialogue and is particularly adept at grasping tone. I recommend Annie wholeheartedly to any team in need of a narrative Swiss army knife.
Let’s not mess around here: Annie knows writing. Which, in fact, is an incredibly rare skill among games writers. That knowledge, combined with her upbeat personality, modesty and appetite for creativity, makes any team very, VERY lucky to have her.
Annie is a wonderful leader. She is always eager to collaborate, she is open to feedback and concerns, and readily offers support and encouragement. She inspires me to consider new approaches to characters and story, and I feel extremely lucky to be working with her. It’s clear she cares deeply about her team and she motivates us all to reach new heights.
I had the great pleasure of working with Annie on the Division. Annie brings to the table everything a great narrative needs: craft, professionalism, and arguably most important, a clear point of view. She was always eager to collaborate, to bounce ideas off of and push us to try and go beyond the type of stories we’ve seen before. On a project as big as the Division it was crucial to keep the bigger narrative picture in mind, while also weaving narrative into the nuts and bolts of the gameplay – and Annie was always keenly aware and able to walk that tightrope. On top of this she is incredibly easy to work with and took every challenge that came our way with stride and a desire to make the game the best it could possibly be. I would work with her again in a heartbeat.
Having a great writer is essential to any successful production, whether for television or games, and I’ve worked with many over my career. Annie Reid is right up near the top of my list and made my job as the cinematic director on Dead Rising 3 an amazing experience from beginning to end. Working with Annie from the game’s inception through to its release and beyond, I found her to be extremely passionate about getting not only the story right but also collaborative in helping my team execute it visually. She has a great knack for dialogue and character arcs was happy to listen to my ideas and work together to really create some amazing moments.
